Hey everyone!,
It's a new Fall hunting season and with it brings all the excitement and hope for the best. I also have taken a break from my blogging activities in the past, but with a fresh new home page, I look forward to commenting again just like the new hunting season is coming around.
I have been out on the early archery deer season, and although not yet successful, the land looks good. We have also been pre-scouting for the dove opener and there seems to be plenty of birds where their primary concern of feed, water and roost are met.
The biggest concern I see with dove, is the continual march of development. Although it has slowed of late, the spread of housing or commercial developments into our traditional hunting areas has hurt our access to where we normally would hunt.
You may have to look outside your normal areas this year and hunt "fringe" areas. We have found a great spot we think for this year's opener that is far enough away from roads and structures, not posted, but is holding a good amount of birds. We think most people will overlook this little gem of an area because it is a small "fringe" area.
So do your homework, check your regulations, and look for areas that might be overlooked by the opening day hordes. Good luck, stay safe and send pictures!
