Monkey Business

Hey everyone,
California's legislature decided to push AB962 (De Leon) ammunition registration bill out of the "suspense file yesterday. This bill will be eligible to be heard later next week once it is amended. Stay diligent in reminding your representitive that you want no part of ammo registries. They have been doing it for years in LA and it has done nothing to slow/stop crime. It is merely a "nuisance" law to impede our normal activities just like lead free ammo for the condors!

Oh no, that ugly thing again! So you remember how "Project Gut Pile" was a voluntary project to dig your bullet out of your deer carcass? And then it became a no lead bullet use at all? So Arizona went to the same voluntary "Project Gut Pile" up on the rim in Northern Arizona. This year, if you don't use lead free ammo, you have to PACK OUT YOUR GUT PILE! It makes me sick that with no science to back up their claims, Game & Fish just shoved that junk down our throats in Arizona now too! And with the ban on lead rimfire ammo in California with no replacement available, it ruins our opportunities with small game shooting. Get rowdy Arizona! They are after you now too! The camel's nose is under the tent!

On the lighter side, Dove season opener is just 4 days away! Archery deer is in full swing. I haven't heard of any archery elk success yet. Anything out there?

That is a real shame for Arizona. I thought that was one of the last free thinking states in the U.S. I am a little confused about the "Camels Head is under your tent" sentance however. Can you shed some light?

Check out the history of this bill at the following link:

To me, it looks like we're losing the battle. On every "discussion" about sections of the bill, the Ayes outweight the Noes. Am I interpreting this correctly?

Yes, We are loosing the battle unless the Governor vetoes it. We just don't have the votes in either house to stop this one. When bills are first introduced, the only thing you can hope for is if we flood calls/emails/letters to our representatives, they will try to bear sway with other legislators that the bill is not wanted and they will vote against it. Politics are still a popularity contest. Politicians go where they feel popular. Until the majority of the public's opinion changes on this in California, the liberal politicians will continue to introduce junk like this and be re-elected as "tough on guns", which is what their liberal constituents want. Doesn't it make you feel good to be in a minority of opinion?!

The first thing I did when I returned to the States was to call on Rachel. Her mother answered the door. Rachel no longer lived there. She had married a medical student she’d met in college. “I thought she wrote you,” her mother said.
